Suamico is a village in Brown County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 8,686 at the 2000 census. The village was formerly known as the Town of Suamico. In September 2003, the entire town was incorporated as the village as a result of a referendum passed by the residents. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 153.6 km (59.3 mi ). 93.9 km (36.2 mi ) of it is land and 59.7 km (23.1 mi ) of it (38.88%) is water. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 8,686 people, 2,966 households, and 2,544 families residing in the village. The population density was 92.5/km (239.6/mi ). There were 3,078 housing units at an average density of 32.8/km (84.9/mi ). The racial makeup of the village was 97.97% White, 0.22% African American, 0.58% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races.
