De Pere is a city located in Brown County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. As of the 2004 census estimate, the city had a total population of 22,875.

In 1671 French Jesuit explorer P re Claude-Jean Allouez founded the St. Francis Xavier Mission at the last set of rapids on the Fox River before entering the Bay of Green Bay. The site was known as Rapides Des P res (rapids of the fathers) which became modern day De Pere. St. Norbert College, which abuts the banks of the Fox River on the city's west side, was founded by Norbertine Abbot Pennings in 1898.

De Pere is located at 44 °26'28" North, 88 °4'6" West (44.441041, -88.068429) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 29.3 km (11.3 mi ). 27.5 km (10.6 mi ) of it is land and 1.8 km (0.7 mi ) of it is water. The total area is 6.27% water.

As of the census estimate of 2004, there are 22,875 people residing in De Pere. As of 2000, 7,724 households, and 5,020 families reside in the city. The population density is 748.2/km (1,938.4/mi ). There are 7,993 housing units at an average density of 290.9/km (753.6/mi ). The racial makeup of the city is 96.71% White, 0.54% African American, 0.92% Native American, 0.75% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 0.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
