Tekoa is located at 47 °13 29 N, 117 °4 25 W (47.224704, -117.073607) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.0 km (1.1 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 826 people, 318 households, and 220 families residing in the city. The population density was 279.8/km (727.2/mi ). There were 363 housing units at an average density of 122.9/km (319.6/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 93.46% White, 0.36% African American, 2.18% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 2.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.57% of the population.

There were 318 households out of which 30.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% were married couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.8% were non-families. 29.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.98.
