La Crosse was incorporated on February 19, 1917.

La Crosse is located at 46 °48 51 N, 117 °52 48 W (46.814289, -117.880097) GR1.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 380 people, 164 households, and 105 families residing in the town. The population density was 431.5/km (1,101.6/mi ). There were 187 housing units at an average density of 212.4/km (542.1/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 93.42% White, 3.16% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.53% from other races, and 2.63% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.53% of the population.

There were 164 households out of which 31.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 9.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% were non-families. 32.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.32 and the average family size was 2.90.
