Darrington is a town in Snohomish County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,136 at the 2000 census. Darrington was officially incorporated on October 15, 1945. Darrington is located at 48 °15 8 N, 121 °36 14 W (48.252260, -121.603876) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.5 km (1.0 mi ), all land. Darrington is a small community thus a lot of the people know eachother. It is common for people to joke about incest and "datin cousins" as the locals call it. Anywhere outside of Darrington in normal civilization is refered to as "Down Belo". The population of Darrington High School is usually around 200 students, most of which are under the 3.0 GPA line. The town is known mainly for logging and has 1 Shell gas station and 1 IGA grocery store. The other businesses in Darrington are small and for the most part family owned. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,136 people, 473 households, and 292 families residing in the town. The population density was 452.2/km (1,171.9/mi ).
