Duvall is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,568 at the 2003 census. Based on per capita income, one of the more reliable measures of affluence, Duvall ranks 55th of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked. Duvall was officially incorporated on January 7, 1913. Duvall is named after James Duvall, an important man involved in the logging industry during that time. The city was settled by loggers in the early 1900s. Several logging companies established themselves on the banks of the Snoqualmie River and began to harvest timber from the area. A few of the original settlers' homes still remain. Duvall is located at 47 °44 3 N, 121 °58 32 W (47.734149, -121.975493) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.9 km (2.3 mi ), all land. As of June 2006 the population was estimated to be 5,735 according to population figures from a Washington State Office of Financial Management Forecasting Division Report. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 4,616 people, 1,596 households, and 1,307 families residing in the city. The population density was 781.7/km (2,020.5/mi ). There were 1,646 housing units at an average density of 278.7/km (720.5/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 93.46% White, 0.45% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.97% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.49% from other races, and 2.12% from two or more races.
