McCleary is a city in Grays Harbor County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,454 at the 2000 census.

McCleary was officially incorporated on January 9, 1943.It was founded by Henry McCleary.

McCleary is located at 47 °3 19 N, 123 °16 8 W (47.055359, -123.268859) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.7 km (1.8 mi ). 4.7 km (1.8 mi ) of it is land and 0.55% is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,454 people, 555 households, and 376 families residing in the city. The population density was 308.5/km (800.2/mi ). There were 583 housing units at an average density of 123.7/km (320.9/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 94.36% White, 0.21% African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.76% from other races, and 3.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.20% of the population.

There were 555 households out of which 32.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.3% were married couples living together, 13.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 27.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 3.00.
