Benton City was officially incorporated on June 14, 1945.

Benton City is located at 46 °16 4 N, 119 °29 18 W (46.267872, -119.488230) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.5 km (1.8 mi ). 4.5 km (1.7 mi ) of it is land and 0.57% is water.

The racial makeup of the city was 84.34% White, 0.15% African American, 1.14% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 10.63% from other races, and 3.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.51% of the population.
