Springfield is a city in Robertson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 14,329 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Robertson County GR6.

Springfield is located at 36 °29 58 N, 86 °52 43 W (36.499508, -86.878717) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 31.6 km (12.2 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 14,329 people, 5,453 households, and 3,778 families residing in the city. The population density was 453.1/km (1,173.9/mi ). There were 5,836 housing units at an average density of 184.5/km (478.1/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 70.56% White, 25.91% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.76% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.94% of the population.

There were 5,453 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.7% were married couples living together, 18.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 3.00.
