Huron is a city in Beadle County, South Dakota, USA. The population was 11,893 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Beadle County GR6. Huron was the home of now-defunct Huron University since 1897. Huron is also the home of the South Dakota State Fair. Huron is located at 44 °21 33 N, 98 °13 5 W (44.359145, -98.218152) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 21.6 km (8.3 mi ). 21.3 km (8.2 mi ) of it is land and 0.3 km (0.1 mi ) of it (1.56%) is water. Huron has been assigned the ZIP codes 57350 and 57399 and the FIPS place code 31060. Huron is home to a statue known as "The World's Largest Pheasant".
