Pittston Township is a township in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,450 at the 2000 census. Within the township is the borough of Avoca, where the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is located.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 37.2 km (14.4 mi ). 37.2 km (14.4 mi ) of it is land and 0.1 km (0.04 mi ) of it (0.14%) is water. Also known as "Browntown".

As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 3,450 people, 1,340 households, and 975 families residing in the township. The population density was 92.8/km (240.2/mi ). There were 1,437 housing units at an average density of 38.6/km (100.1/mi ). The racial makeup of the township was 99.16% White, 0.29% African American, 0.09% Asian, 0.06% from other races, and 0.41% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.35% of the population.

There were 1,340 households out of which 27.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.7% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% were non-families. 24.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.03.
