Elmhurst Township is a township in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 838 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 4.9 km (1.9 mi ). 4.7 km (1.8 mi ) of it is land and 0.2 km (0.1 mi ) of it (4.23%) is water.

As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 838 people, 258 households, and 198 families residing in the township. The population density was 178.8/km (462.5/mi ). There were 274 housing units at an average density of 58.4/km (151.2/mi ). The racial makeup of the township was 99.88% White and 0.12% African American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.24% of the population.

There were 258 households out of which 32.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.0% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.9% were non-families. 19.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.01.
