Sandy is a city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, and named after the nearby Sandy River. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,386, however Portland State University estimates that the city has 7,070 people as of July 2006.

The city serves as the western gateway to the Mount Hood Corridor.

Sandy is located at 45 °23'51" North, 122 °15'59" West (45.397499, -122.266319) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.8 km (2.6 mi ), none of which is covered with water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there are 5385 people in the city, organized into 1956 households and 1431 families. The population density is 790.6/km (2,044.9/mi ). There are 2,080 housing units at an average density of 305.4/km (789.8/mi ). The racial makeup of the city is 93.91% White, 1.15% African American, 0.74% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 1.65% from other races, and 2.14% from two or more races. 4.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
