Forest River is a city in Walsh County, North Dakota in the United States. The population was 154 at the 2000 census. Forest River was founded in 1887. Forest River is located at 48 °13 5 N, 97 °28 7 W (48.218056, -97.468742) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.3 km (0.5 mi ), all land.
