Cramerton is located at 35 °14 12 N, 81 °4 26 W (35.236723, -81.073939) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 10.0 km (3.9 mi ). 9.3 km (3.6 mi ) of it is land and 0.7 km (0.3 mi ) of it (7.25%) is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 2,976 people, 1,169 households, and 859 families residing in the town. The population density was 321.0/km (830.5/mi ). There were 1,229 housing units at an average density of 132.5/km (343.0/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 94.12% White, 2.35% African American, 0.50% Native American, 1.92% Asian, 0.20% from other races, and 0.91% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.37% of the population.

There were 1,169 households out of which 35.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.7% were married couples living together, 9.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.5% were non-families. 22.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.97.
