Crowder is a town in Mississippi, United States. The population was 766 at the 2000 census. Crowder is located at 34 °10 23 N, 90 °8 11 W (34.173091, -90.136476) GR1. Most of the town is in Quitman County with a portion on the east in adjacent Panola County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 km (0.4 mi ). None of the area is covered with water. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 766 people, 309 households, and 198 families residing in the town. The population density was 657.2/km (1,690.7/mi ). There were 334 housing units at an average density of 286.6/km (737.2/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 53.13% White, 46.34% African American, 0.13% Pacific Islander, and 0.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.26% of the population. There were 309 households out of which 34.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 35.6% were married couples living together, 21.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% were non-families. 32.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
