Chisholm is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 4,960 at the 2000 census.

Chisholm was founded by Archibald Mark Chisholm, known as Iron Man. [1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.3 km (4.7 mi ). 11.4 km (4.4 mi ) of it is land and 0.9 km (0.3 mi ) of it (7.17%) is water.

Chisholm is in the center of the Mesabi Iron Range, one of the four iron ranges in the Arrowhead Region of Minnesota.

As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 4,960 people, 2,178 households, and 1,287 families residing in the city. The population density was 436.2/km (1,128.6/mi ). There were 2,375 housing units at an average density of 208.9/km (540.4/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 97.92% White, 0.10% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.73% of the population.
