Mounds View is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 12,738 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.7 km (4.1 mi ). 10.6 km (4.1 mi ) of it is land and 0.1 km (0.04 mi ) of it (0.48%) is water. Rice Creek flows through the southeastern part of the city. [1] The city of Mounds View was located in the former Mounds View Township, which included parts of present-day Shoreview, Arden Hills, and Spring Lake Park. In 1958, 100 years after Minnesota's ascension to statehood, the village of Mounds View was incorporated. Post World War II growth was partially fueled by the proximity of the Twin Cities Arsenal. Today, Mounds View is primarily known for the Mermaid Bowling Alley, Wynnsong Movie Theater, large, wooded residential lots, and the excellence of the Mounds View School District (which includes nearby New Brighton, Shoreview, Arden Hills, and North Oaks ).
