Halstad is a city in Norman County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 622 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 km (0.3 mi ), all land. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 622 people, 249 households, and 154 families residing in the city. The population density was 828.1/km (2,131.3/mi ). There were 295 housing units at an average density of 392.8/km (1,010.8/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 94.37% White, 0.16% African American, 1.45% Native American, 2.41% from other races, and 1.61% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.13% of the population. There were 249 households out of which 26.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.8% were non-families. 36.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
