Middle River is a city in Marshall County, Minnesota, along a stream of the same name (see Middle River (Minnesota). The population was 319 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.3 km (0.5 mi ), all land. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 319 people, 152 households, and 76 families residing in the city. The population density was 246.3/km (639.9/mi ). There were 161 housing units at an average density of 124.3/km (323.0/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 98.75% White, and 1.25% from two or more races. There were 152 households out of which 23.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 36.8% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.0% were non-families. 45.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 22.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
