Greenfield is a city in Hennepin County, Minnesota, along the Crow River. The population was 2,544 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 55.6 km (21.5 mi ). 52.9 km (20.4 mi ) of it is land and 2.7 km (1.0 mi ) of it (4.89%) is water. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 2,544 people, 817 households, and 674 families residing in the city. The population density was 48.1/km (124.5/mi ). There were 824 housing units at an average density of 15.6/km (40.3/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 97.72% White, 0.39% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.20% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.79% of the population. There were 817 households out of which 46.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.5% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.5% were non-families. 12.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
