Ramsey is a city in Anoka County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 18,510 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 77.0 km (29.7 mi ). 74.6 km (28.8 mi ) of it is land and 2.5 km (0.9 mi ) of it (3.19%) is water. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 18,510 people, 5,906 households, and 5,102 families residing in the city. The population density was 248.2/km (642.9/mi ). There were 5,946 housing units at an average density of 79.7/km (206.5/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 96.80% White, 0.31% African American, 0.45% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.28% from other races, and 1.15% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.19% of the population. There were 5,906 households out of which 49.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.8% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 13.6% were non-families. 8.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
