New Boston is an unincorporated community in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It had a population of 1300 people in 1990. It is on the Huron River at 42 °09 45 N, 83 °24 11 W, just south of Romulus, Michigan. Interstate 275 passes to the east of the community with exit 13 providing easy access. New Boston was first settled around 1820 and was originally called "Catville" after the initials of C. A. Trowbridge, its proprietor. It received a post office in 1860. On March 20, 1868 the name of the town was changed to New Boston. Now a days, New Boston is home to the quaint locations of Gibbs Sweet Station and Mc Nasty's Saloon. Those are two must see places. New Boston is also home of the Apple Festival that takes place every October. New Boston, along with Huron Township, is a community currently in transition. While once it was a farming community, it is rapidly becoming a bedroom suburb of Detroit that is struggling to keep its rural appeal. Featured Homes in New Boston, MI
