Eastport is a city in Washington County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,640 at the 2000 census. The town is situated upon Moose Island and is the easternmost city (although nearby Lubec, Maine is the easternmost municipality) in the continental United States. Eastport faces Deer Island to the northeast and Campobello Island to the southeast - both islands are in Canada. There is also an international ferry crossing to Deer Island during the summer months. Old Sow, the largest whirlpool in the western hemisphere, sits on the International Boundary between Eastport and Deer Island. In 2001, Eastport was the setting of the reality TV show Murder in Small Town X, where it was referred to as "Sunrise." Eastport is located at 44 °54 49 N, 67 °0 14 W (44.913741, -67.003914) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 31.2 km (12.1 mi ). 9.5 km (3.7 mi ) of it is land and 21.8 km (8.4 mi ) of it (69.65%) is water.
