Gouldsboro is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States on the Schoodic Peninsula. The town has many historically separate fishing and summer visitor villages, including Birch Harbor, Prospect Harbor, and Corea. [1] The population was 1,941 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 261.0 km (100.8 mi ). 119.4 km (46.1 mi ) of it is land and 141.6 km (54.7 mi ) of it (54.24%) is water. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 1,941 people, 801 households, and 539 families residing in the town. The population density was 16.3/km (42.1/mi ). There were 1,328 housing units at an average density of 11.1/km (28.8/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 96.39% White, 0.67% African American, 0.82% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.26% Pacific Islander, 0.52% from other races, and 1.13% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.85% of the population. There were 801 households out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% were married couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% were non-families. 27.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
