Frenchville is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,225 at the 2000 census. The town is home to the general aviation airport Northern Aroostook Regional Airport. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 75.7 km (29.2 mi ). 74.0 km (28.6 mi ) of it is land and 1.7 km (0.6 mi ) of it (2.19%) is water. The town lies on the south bank of the Saint John River, which forms the international boundary between Maine and New Brunswick, Canada. As of the census 2 of 2000, there were 1,225 people, 478 households, and 356 families residing in the town. The population density was 16.6/km (42.9/mi ). There were 512 housing units at an average density of 6.9/km (17.9/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 99.27% White, 0.08% African American, 0.24% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.08% from other races, and 0.16% from two or more races.
