Gramercy is a town in St. James Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 3,066 at the 2000 census. Gramercy is located at 30 °3 14 N, 90 °41 21 W (30.053907, -90.689154) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.5 km (2.1 mi ). 5.4 km (2.1 mi ) of it is land and 0.1 km (0.04 mi ) of it (1.42%) is water. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 3,066 people, 1,090 households, and 833 families residing in the town. The population density was 571.9/km (1,477.6/mi ). There were 1,163 housing units at an average density of 216.9/km (560.5/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 63.60% White, 34.83% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.10% Asian, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.72% of the population. There were 1,090 households out of which 35.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.4% were married couples living together, 18.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% were non-families. 20.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
