Rayne is a city in Acadia Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 8,552 at the 2000 census. It is nicknamed the "Frog Capital of the World", as well as the "Louisiana City of Murals".

Rayne is located at 30 °14 15 N, 92 °16 5 W (30.237379, -92.268175) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.0 km (3.5 mi ). 8.9 km (3.5 mi ) of it is land and 0.29% is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 8,552 people, 3,183 households, and 2,228 families residing in the city. The population density was 957.1/km (2,476.1/mi ). There were 3,480 housing units at an average density of 389.5/km (1,007.6/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 65.55% White, 33.52% African American, 0.11% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.19% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.81% of the population.

There were 3,183 households out of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.1% were married couples living together, 20.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.0% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.22.
