Conway Springs is located at 37 °23 22 N, 97 °38 40 W (37.389546, -97.644332) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 km (0.8 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,322 people, 469 households, and 318 families residing in the city. The population density was 654.4/km (1,684.6/mi ). There were 501 housing units at an average density of 248.0/km (638.4/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 97.05% White, 0.23% African American, 0.23% Native American, 1.13% from other races, and 1.36% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.29% of the population.

There were 469 households out of which 38.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.2% were married couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.0% were non-families. 31.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.46.
