Anita is a city in Cass County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,049 at the 2000 census. Lake Anita State Park is located just outside of the town.

Anita is located at 41 °26 48 N, 94 °45 56 W (41.446724, -94.765440) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.4 km (1.7 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,049 people, 454 households, and 285 families residing in the city. The population density was 236.9/km (612.1/mi ). There were 492 housing units at an average density of 111.1/km (287.1/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 99.24% White, 0.19% Native American, 0.10% Asian, and 0.48% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.48% of the population.

There were 454 households out of which 26.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.1% were married couples living together, 9.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.2% were non-families. 33.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.81.
