Loda is located at 40 °30 59 N, 88 °4 26 W (40.516400, -88.073975) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.8 km (1.5 mi ). 3.8 km (1.5 mi ) of it is land and 0.68% is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 419 people, 166 households, and 111 families residing in the village. The population density was 111.6/km (289.4/mi ). There were 183 housing units at an average density of 48.7/km (126.4/mi ). The racial makeup of the village was 94.03% White, 2.63% African American, 2.15% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.49% of the population.

There were 166 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.2% were married couples living together, 9.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.1% were non-families. 30.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.20.
