Star is a city in Ada County, Idaho, United States. The population was 1,795 at the 2000 census. Star is located at 43 °41 39 N, 116 °29 25 W (43.694084, -116.490225) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 km (0.9 mi ), all land. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,795 people, 631 households, and 485 families residing in the city. The population density was 805.9/km (2,092.5/mi ). There were 681 housing units at an average density of 305.7/km (793.9/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 92.87% White, 0.28% African American, 0.95% Native American, 0.22% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.89% from other races, and 4.74% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.29% of the population. There were 631 households out of which 48.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% were non-families. 16.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
