P » ia ( pah-ee-ah ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawai » i, on the northern coast of the island of Maui. The population was 2,499 at the 2000 census. P » ia features several restaurants as well as art galleries, surf shops, and other tourist traps. One local restaurant/bar, Charley's, is frequented by Willie Nelson when he visits the island. The eponymously named "fish market" at P » ia's main intersection is moderately well known throughout the island for its mexican and hawaiian food.

P » ia is the last town on H na highway when heading eastbound towards H na.

P » ia is located at 20 °54 38 N, 156 °22 35 W (20.910694, -156.376340) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.5 km (6.8 mi ). 15.7 km (6.1 mi ) of it is land and 1.8 km (0.7 mi ) of it (10.06%) is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 2,499 people, 783 households, and 551 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 158.7/km (410.8/mi ). There were 890 housing units at an average density of 56.5/km (146.3/mi ). The racial makeup of the CDP was 33.45% White, 0.32% African American, 0.60% Native American, 27.13% Asian, 8.80% Pacific Islander, 1.24% from other races, and 28.45% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.92% of the population.
