Kurtistown is located at 19 °35 26 N, 155 °4 13 W (19.590584, -155.070142) GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 15.0 km (5.8 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,157 people, 405 households, and 294 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 76.9/km (199.1/mi ). There were 452 housing units at an average density of 30.0/km (77.8/mi ). The racial makeup of the CDP was 17.98% White, 0.52% African American, 0.52% Native American, 40.80% Asian, 6.74% Pacific Islander, 0.61% from other races, and 32.84% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.73% of the population.

There were 405 households out of which 29.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% were non-families. 22.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.34.
