Palmetto (established 1853 ) is a city located mostly in Fulton (originally Campbell ) and now partly in Coweta counties in Georgia. The population was 3,400 at the 2000 census. Census Estimates for 2005 show a population of 4,676.

Palmetto, elevation 1050 feet 0r 320 meters AMSL, is located at 33 °31 16 N, 84 °40 4 W (33.521117, -84.667662) GR1

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.7 km (5.3 mi ). 13.4 km (5.2 mi ) of it is land and 0.3 km (0.1 mi ) of it (1.89%) is water.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 3,400 people, 1,223 households, and 881 families residing in the city. The population density was 253.4/km (656.2/mi ). There were 1,283 housing units at an average density of 95.6/km (247.6/mi ). The racial makeup of the city was 47.41% White, 44.18% African American, 0.62% Native American, 0.03% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.38% from other races, and 2.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 11.62% of the population.
