North Fort Myers is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 40,214 at the 2000 census. North Fort Myers is located at 26 °42 11 N, 81 °53 4 W (26.702918, -81.884360) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 141.4 km (54.6 mi ). 136.3 km (52.6 mi ) of it is land and 5.1 km (2.0 mi ) of it (3.61%) is water. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 40,214 people, 19,654 households, and 12,539 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 295.1/km (764.2/mi ). There were 25,284 housing units at an average density of 185.5/km (480.5/mi ). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.49% White, 0.93% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.81% from other races, and 0.89% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.90% of the population. There were 19,654 households out of which 12.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% were married couples living together, 6.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.2% were non-families. 30.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
