Stratton is a town in Kit Carson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 669 at the 2000 census. Stratton, named after the gold miner/philanthropist Winfield Scott Stratton, is located at 39 °18 11 N, 102 °36 15 W (39.302976, -102.604272) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 km (0.5 mi ), all land. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 669 people, 287 households, and 189 families residing in the town. The population density was 561.5/km (1,469.3/mi ). There were 359 housing units at an average density of 301.3/km (788.4/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 96.86% White, 0.45% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 1.94% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.59% of the population. There were 287 households out of which 30.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 4.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 30.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
