Peridot is a census-designated place (CDP) in Gila County, Arizona, United States. The population was 1,266 at the 2000 census. Peridot is located at 33 °18 14 N, 110 °27 18 W (33.303884, -110.455046) GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.5 km (5.2 mi ), all land. As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 1,266 people, 307 households, and 261 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 93.6/km (242.5/mi ). There were 346 housing units at an average density of 25.6/km (66.3/mi ). The racial makeup of the CDP was 1.42% White, 97.95% Native American, and 0.63% from two or more races. 2.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. Out of the town's Native Americans, 92.97% are Apache, making Peridot the most Apache community in the United States. There were 307 households out of which 50.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.4% were married couples living together, 20.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.7% were non-families. 12.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
