Ariton is a town in Dale County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 772. According to the 2005 U.S. Census estimates, the town had a population of 755. [1]

Ariton is located at 31 °35 54 N, 85 °43 8 W (31.598204, -85.718761) GR1.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 13.1 km (5.1 mi ), all land.

As of the census GR2 of 2000, there were 772 people, 306 households, and 220 families residing in the town. The population density was 58.8/km (152.3/mi ). There were 335 housing units at an average density of 25.5/km (66.1/mi ). The racial makeup of the town was 69.30% White, 29.27% Black or African American, 0.13% Native American, and 1.30% from two or more races. 0.78% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 306 households out of which 39.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.1% were married couples living together, 20.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.8% were non-families. 26.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 3.02.
